The AGROCAST for November 2016 covers Super Mario Land 2: Six Golden Coins for the Nintendo Game Boy.
The Game Boy was a mighty little system that dominated handheld gaming and created a dynasty to be in awe of. Just as you could take your gaming to brave new locales and into the heart of adventure, Mario would leave the Mushroom Kingdom to find adventure in far off lands in his Game Boy career.
But when he returned home, all was not well. Beloved garlic chugger Wario cut his teeth on the Game Boy in his first appearance in Super Mario Land 2 by conquering Mario’s castle (yes) and shifting it into a dread shadow of its former splendour.
I’m joined by co-host Kris to explore a world torn by the reign of Wario (or perhaps free of the reign of Mario) and determine just how Mario Land 2 holds up as a Game Boy title and a Mario title. I soapbox for the Game Boy a lot, but there’s a reason it was the boss. And it doesn’t come from piddly anemic games that are a malnourished port of their NES and SNES contemporaries. And that did happen, but did Super Mario Land 2 do this? Find out inside.
Was it all a dream?
