The AGROCAST for April 2019 focuses on the Famicom title Mother, also known as EarthBound Zero and EarthBound Beginnings.
The Mother series is important to both Kris and I in different, though sometimes intersecting ways. The original Mother sometimes gets overlooked as for a long time it wasn’t _officially_ available for Western audiences (corrected now of course) and because it lacks many of the mechanically hallmarks that people love about EarthBound and Mother 3.
However, I’ve always maintained that Mother has incredible flavour and theming, and while EarthBound would repeat many of the same beats it maintains a unique presence within its generation and series.
So, with neither of us having played Mother in years, and for me admittedly much less than its sequels – does it hold up? This is a two part podcast, so that’ll have to be answered in the May cast, but join us on our adventure to collect eight melodies.
