Many games try to blend elements together to create something unique. Many still try to implement roguelike elements into their makeup. This isn’t always a success, sometimes the elements clash or the game experiences the bloat of trying to do too many things at once. Some pull it off beautifully, and Crypt of the Necrodancer is a prime example.

Crypt of the Necrodancer is a roguelike rhythm game, an unexpected combination the game pulls off tremendously well. As this roguelike’s time units advance on every beat, Cadence and the other souls trapped in the Crypt need to move to rhythm or fall behind. It’s a game with a load of flavour, solid progression, and characters with high skill caps.

Kris and I are taking on Crypt of the Necrodancer as AGROCAST goes on hiatus (more on that in the podcast) so it’s a high note. We’ve both expressed our appreciation of this game in past episodes and it’s well past due we talk about it in a full length capacity.

-Kris here. Thanks to Zack / Skeletondoggy for letting me use their music for this podcast! Please check out their SoundCloud and Bandcamp!
