ARGROCAST – Radical Dreamers

The AGROCAST for September 2019 focuses on the BS-Satellaview visual novel Radical Dreamers.

You pass by the horse stall. The smell of manure and oats and damp hay wafts into your nostrils. It’s a nostalgic smell, you’ve inhaled this scent fourteen times already in this very same adventure. It’s an earthy smell, with more than a hint of musk. The hay has been jostled slightly as if an animal, perhaps a horse, had been laying there at one time before it was dampened. The stall door is old, but well built. It shows some signs of age but has generally held up in a favourable condition. Would you like to dig through the hay or continue along your way to the podcast?

Chrono Trigger has a lot of playerbase distribution, it’s one of the SNES titles with the most exposure. There’s no surprise then that both co-host Kris and I have a history with the Chrono series to some extent. Which brings us to Radical Dreamers.

Radical Dreamers was a Satellaview exclusive visual novel that acted as a sequel to Chrono Trigger, and sort of an alternate history to Chrono Cross which would reuse some of the scenario from Dreamers. This is a game I’ve read about, read synopsis and reviews but hadn’t played myself. There’s no time like the present.

So, how well does Radical Dreamers fit into the Chrono series? How well does it perform as it own entity. We take a look on this month’s cast.
