I have written here at length in the past about how important E.V.O. – Search for Eden is to me. It is unabashedly one of my favourite games of all time. It embraced its absurdity and captured the imagination. It was my holy grail, a struggle to find. So I would eventually catch wind of a prequel, 46 Okunen Monogatari the Shinka Ron on the Japanese computer platform, the NEC PC-9801.

The Last Guardian At Last

We’ve been waiting for The Last Guardian for a very long time, and now we finally have the chance to play it. I’ll be talking at length about the game on the podcast later in the month, but I need an outlet for it here and now. Having cleared it the night before posting this, these are my first impressions of the game. I’ll try to keep it spoiler free.

Dino Riki – NESventures in Prehistory

One thing you’ll notice as you pour over games libraries is that sometimes there’s this great premise or boxart or fascinating descriptions. The NES had its fair share of these, and I’m sure the prospect of dinosaurs caused plenty of us to rent Adventures of Dino Riki. It’s one of many games I would have rented for this reason, and it’s well over 25 years now. This is a game with a dubious reputation, and my memories weren’t exactly glowing. But I was curious if my thoughts about the game were from this disconnect of concept and execution, or if it was simply because it was bad.
